Press Release: Statement by an IMF Technical Assistance Mission to Honduras

Mr. Mario Garza, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) resident representative in Tegucigalpa, issued the following statement on June 25, 2007:
"At the request of the authorities, and as a part of a regional initiative in Central America, a follow-up mission from the Statistics Department of the IMF visited Tegucigalpa during June 4-22, 2007. The mission worked closely with the staff from the Central Bank of Honduras in the adoption of international best practices, with the objective of improving the quality of monetary and financial statistics and making them comparable with those from other countries in the region. The next step will be to prepare a regional report on its technical assessment and recommendations for the central bank governors of Central America."
