Aruba Begins Participation in Enhanced General Data Dissemination System

August 16, 2017

Aruba began participating in the International Monetary Fund’s Enhanced General Data Dissemination System (e-GDDS) today, marking a major step forward in the development of its statistical system. Comprehensive information on the statistical production and dissemination practices of Aruba now appears on the IMF’s Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board (http://dsbb.imf.org).

To mark the occasion, Ms. Jeanette Semeleer, President of the Centrale Bank van Aruba, noted: “Aruba is committed to using the IMF’s e-GDDS as a general framework to continue developing the national statistical system consistent with best international practices.”

Mr. Louis Marc Ducharme, Director of the IMF’s Statistics Department, said: “I am pleased to welcome Aruba’s participation in the e-GDDS. This is an important milestone, and marks a crucial step for the country’s statistical development.” Mr. Ducharme encouraged the authorities to proceed with the implementation of the e-GDDS recommendations, including the development of a National Summary Data Page (NSDP).

Background

The e-GDDS was endorsed by the IMF’s Executive Board in May 2015 to support improved data transparency, and help create synergies between data dissemination and surveillance. The e-GDDS supersedes the GDDS, which was established in 1997. Watch this short video that gives a broad overview of the benefits of the e-GDDS.
