** VISA INFORMATION **

All participants, except the nationals of countries and areas with visa exemption, require a visa to enter Japan. A visa application form along with photos, a valid passport, and confirmation letter must be submitted to Japanese embassies or consulates to obtain a visa. Participants are strongly advised to apply for visas at least one or two weeks prior to departure. Special Guests

Special Guests are high level representatives from financial organizations and academic communities having significant operational relationships with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. Special Guests are invited to the Annual Meetings each year by Members of the Executive Boards and senior management of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.

Accredited Special Guests will receive an electronic invitation to the Annual Meetings.

The Joint Secretariat (JS) has reserved an inventory of hotel rooms for the upcoming 2012 Annual Meetings. Hotel bookings may be made to accommodate Special Guests through our booking site. Please note that a confirmed hotel reservation does not guarantee successful accreditation at the Annual Meetings.

Visitors

Visitors are representatives from financial institutions, other commercial enterprises and private individuals who have interest in the operations and affairs of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group. To attend the Annual Meetings, all Visitors must apply for accreditation in advance.

All Visitor registration requests will be reviewed and accredited based on the policies and procedures which govern the attendance of Visitors to the 2012 Annual Meetings. Upon successful accreditation, Visitors will receive the registration confirmation letter. The registration confirmation letter will be required by the Japanese embassies and consulates for visa processing to attend the Annual Meetings.

Journalists

All working press must have Annual Meetings credentials to attend the meetings.

To be accredited, you must present one of the following:

  1. Valid press credentials issued by national governments or authorities;

    OR

  2. Clear evidence that you are on assignment from a specific news organization or publication. This applies to all freelancers, including photographers. A valid assignment letter from that news organization, or publication, is required. Photographic agencies must provide clear evidence from a client news organization or publication.

Civil Society Representatives

The 2012 International Monetary Fund and World Bank Annual Meetings will be held on October 12-14 in Tokyo, Japan. The IMF and World Bank Civil Society Teams will be hosting the Civil Society Program from October 8 to October 13 which will include an orientation session on the IMF and the Bank, a town hall with the heads of the institutions, meetings with IMF/Bank senior management, and numerous policy sessions. All CSO representatives interested in participating in the Annual Meetings and related events for CSOs must obtain individual accreditation. Representatives are encouraged to apply for accreditation via an online application, which will open on Monday, July 2 and close on Monday, September 24, 2012. Annual Meetings Badge Pick-Up and Registration

Registration for the Annual Meetings will be held in the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) and will be open from October 8 to October 14 for participants pick up their Annual Meetings badge and registration materials.
