Press Announcement: Mr. Agustín Carstens, Deputy Managing Director, International Monetary Fund, to Visit Phnom Penh

Mr. Agustín Carstens, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will visit Phnom Penh during June 13-14, 2005. Mr. Carstens' visit will coincide with an IMF mission to negotiate agreement on an economic, financial and structural reform program that could be supported by an arrangement under the IMF's Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF). During his visit, Mr. Carstens will hold discussions with Prime Minister Hun Sen, Senior Minister of Economy and Finance Keat Chhon, and Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia Chea Chanto. Mr. Carstens will also meet with representatives of the official donor community and NGOs. He will also visit a local charity, Room to Read, which seeks to break the poverty cycle through education.
