February 22, 2013 -- IMF Survey : Minerals Demand Shields Namibia from World Trade Slowdown
Demand for mineral exports drove Namibia’s strong recovery last year from the effects of the world economic crisis. But, IMF economists say in their regular review of the southern African nation’s economy, Namibia’s recovery could be hampered by the impact on trade flows of renewed global uncertainty.

The uncertain global environment is hindering foreign investment in African economies and delaying the payoff that African countries expected after they enacted reforms to improve their domestic business climates, African finance ministers tell reporters during the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Tokyo.

The Initiative comprises a common policy framework aims to facilitate cross-border economic activity by eliminating barriers to the flow of goods, services, labor, and capital, and to help integrate markets by coordinating reform programs in several key structural areas, supported by appropriate macroeconomic policies.
