The IMF has been active in Uruguay undertaking surveillance, delivering financial assistance and providing technical assistance and training.

Surveillance

The 2006 Art. IV consultation with Uruguay was concluded on July 31, 2063. The related Public Information Notice (PIN) has been posted on the IMF website. http://www.imf.org/external/np/sec/pn/2006/pn0685.htm

Financial Assistance

The current Stand-by arrangement was approved on June 8 2006 for a 36-month period in an amount equivalent to SDR 766.3 million.

Technical Assistance

The IMF has provided Uruguay with technical assistance in the areas of tax policy and administration, monetary and foreign exchange operations, central banking, bank restructuring and supervision, and economic statistics.

The IMF Institute and the Joint Regional Training Center for Latin America have provided training to Uruguayan officials in financial analysis, programming and policy, public finance, government finance statistics, balance of payments methodology, and in other areas.
