The IMF team in Hanoi, Vietnam is small but very efficient.

The current Senior Resident Representative is Mr. Benedict Bingham. He joined the IMF in 1994 and has worked as an economist in the African Department, the Fiscal Affairs Department, and the Asia and Pacific Department. Before coming to Vietnam, he worked as the Mission Chief to Lao P.D.R.

Mr. Hao Nguyen, Senior Operations Officer, has been working with the Fund Office in Hanoi since 1993. Hao is in charge, inter alia, of the real and fiscal sectors data and policies, as well as post budget, residence, computers and office facilities.

Ms. Nga Kim Ha, Senior Economics Officer, was seconded from the State Bank of Vietnam in 1997 to work in the Fund's Hanoi office, and then became a local staff member in 2000. Nga is in charge, inter alia, of the monetary and external sectors data and policies, as well as administering IMF training programs.

Ms. Van Anh Nguyen, Research Assistant, has been working in the Hanoi office since 1997. She is in charge, inter alia, of monitoring inflation and exchange rate developments and assists Nga and Hao in compiling and maintaining economic data base. She is also in charge of translation.

Ms. Hai Hoang, Administrative Assistant, has been working with the Fund Office in Hanoi since 2004. She handles all administrative and clerical issues. She also assists Hao with the post accounts and ensures the smooth running of the office.

Mr. Thanh Nguyen, Driver, has worked for many IMF Resident Representatives since 1995. He is considered the best driver in Hanoi, and also the most cheerful!

About our Office

Our office is open from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm daily, Monday - Friday, with closure from 12:00-1:30 for lunch. We have a library, open to the public, of all current IMF publications and a wide variety of publications about Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
