News — Highlights
An IMF mission, led by Mr. Jürgen Odenius, visited Pristina from May 19 to May 27, 2010, and reached agreement, subject to financing assurances from donors and approval by IMF Management and the Executive Board, on an economic program to be supported by a 18-month, SDR 92.7 million (about €106 million) Stand-By Arrangement.
The Republic of Kosovo became the 186th member of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today when President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi signed the IMF’s original Articles of Agreement at a ceremony in Washington D.C.
In the wake of the Kosovo crisis, the countries of Southeastern Europe have made great strides, although they still have to catch up with their neighbors in Central and Eastern Europe. What form should their reform agenda take, and what lessons can the international community draw for helping other postconflict regions?
