Context
Name of Creator: Asian Department Immediate Office
Administrative/Biographical history: The Immediate Office of the Asian Department is responsible for guiding, coordinating, and reviewing the work of its area or geographical divisions. Senior staff members of the Immediate Office are assigned to work on a member country on an ad hoc basis, usually in connection with a mission or Use of Fund Resources but sometimes for an extended period in the case of a member who has a need for extended assistance. The Immediate Office also maintains contact with the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Institute for Economic Development and Planning, and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
Content and structure
Scope and content: Sous-fonds consists of records created and/or maintained by the Immediate Office of the Asian Department. Country Files form the majority of the record set and document the activities of the ASD Immediate Office. Other record categories include Subject and Administrative Files, records generated from the Department's relationship with International Organizations and files generated by Deputy Director John Woodley (1966-1980).
Under the Policy on Access to the IMF's Archives only archival materials that are 20 years old or older are open to researchers.
