Content and structure
Scope and content: Series consists of files maintained by the External Relations Department Immediate Office (EXRAI) as they carried out activities such as: planning and coordinating the production of IMF publications; representing the IMF at conferences or advising management on doing so; corresponding with legislative groups from member countries; liaising with external organizations and the general public; maintaining press relations and making press arrangements for Annual Meetings; and, overseeing the IMF visitor's program. Records include: correspondence, memoranda, reports, papers, conference materials, handwritten notes, transcripts, cables, press releases, and minutes. Files are in original order which is roughly alphabetical.

Conditions governing access and reproduction: Series is open according to the Policy on Access to the Fund's Archives. Files will be screened by reference staff for any time restrictions.

Note: Title Note: EXRAI sometimes referred to the series as General Files, but, as most files of administrative nature were weeded out, the archivist changed the name to reflect the remaining files. Arrangement Note: Files are arranged according to the original arrangement scheme maintained by EXRAI which is in roughly alphabetical order. For an indication of the scheme, see the Retirement binder showing an accession of subject files.
