Context
Name of Creator: IMF Institute - Immediate Office
Administrative/Biographical history: The responsibility of the Immediate Office (or Front Office) of the IMF Institute (INSAI) is to manage and coordinate the Institute's activities, and ensure that courses in different languages maintain a basic uniformity while meeting the particular needs of participants coming from different countries. The Immediate Office also organizes and conducts, with the cooperation of the Institute's divisions and other departments of the IMF, the seminars for senior officials. The Director is the chief officer of the Immediate Office which has one Deputy Director and typically two or more Advisors.
Content and structure
Scope and content: Sub-fonds contains records created and accumulated by the Immediate Office in the course of managing and coordinating various training activities of the IMF Institute. Contains records predominantly maintained by the Directors and Deputy Directors, and also Advisors. These records are arranged in original order according to the following series: Chronological Files, Course Files, External Training Files, Subject Files, Lecture Recordings, and Annual Meeting Video Recordings.
Appraisal, destruction and scheduling information: Several Institute Immediate Office files or documents containing personal information were discarded, including the nomination forms for candidates and Admissions Committee minutes since they contained sensitive information regarding participants nominated for Institute courses. The final list of participants serve as the official record and may be found within the relevant files dealing with courses and seminars. Also destroyed were any IMF Institute staff personnel and staff leave files.
Under the Policy on Access to the IMF's Archives only archival materials that are 20 years old or older are open to researchers.
