Content and structure
Scope and content: Series consists of the subject files of Managing Director H. Johannes Witteveen and include records related to general aspects of the internal management and administrative duties of the Managing Director. Records contain memoranda addressed to, and from, the Managing Director and the Deputy Managing Directors, Departments heads or staff discussing the participation of the IMF in conferences and seminars.
Subject files include correspondence, with attachments which are often related to events and conference information, inviting members of the IMF staff to attend various external local and international meetings or events. The correspondence discusses the Managing Director's whereabouts, business travel plans and expenses, and holiday plans related to his ability to attend events or answer correspondence, thank-you letters, and cables changing or canceling arrangements. Often lists of attendees, minutes of meetings, copies of speeches and remarks from these external events are included in the files.
There are records related to the Annual Meetings and Annual Reports of the IMF, including schedules for press conferences and names of newspaper correspondents, dinners, parties and other social events related to the Annual Meetings. Includes lists of social events, seating arrangements, lists of attendees and special guests, tentative and confirmed meeting and appointment schedules and other itineraries, cables and correspondence requesting appointments with the Managing Director, memoranda related to speeches, and the Managing Director's travel and transportation.
Series also consists of files related to social events either held by, or attended by, Managing Director H. Johannes Witteveen. Includes biographical statements regarding the Managing Director, briefings, guest and seating lists, correspondence organizing social events, reception lists and guests of honor, correspondence and cables accepting or declining invitations.
Files are arranged alphabetically, and reverse chronological within each file.
