Administrative/Biographical history: Prior to working for the Fund, Andrew Crockett was employed as an economist for the Bank of England from 1966-1972. Crockett began his career at the Fund as the Personal Assistant to the Managing Director in 1972. His next major promotion was to Division Chief of the Research Department Special Studies Division in 1974, where he remained for three years until he transferred to the Middle Eastern Department as an Advisor in the Immediate Office. From 1977 to 1982 he served as an Advisor in MED, transferring to the Research Department Immediate Office as a Deputy Director. Content and structure

Scope and content: Series consists of chronological files of Andrew Crockett. Files contain mainly memoranda and correspondence written by Crockett for either internal or external parties, and occasionally the original letter or memorandum that prompted Crockett's response is also included. A few documents in this series were created by Research Department Director William Hood. Series covers a range of topics, but much of Crockett's chronological files concern his involvement with the production of the World Economic Outlook. Also, Crockett provided many references and recommendations for former colleagues, employees, or friends (in particular, he answered repeated requests for references from Maxwell J. Fry, Professor of Economics at several universities, including the University of California Irvine and UCLA). Files are arranged chronologically, and documents within each file are arranged in reverse chronological order.
