Biographical Information

Frank Harnischfeger was appointed Director Technology and General Services of the IMF in August 2006. The Technology and General Services Department manages and delivers services essential for the IMF’s operations. Among others those include information and communication services (information technology, data & publication services, multimedia services, records & archives, telecommunications), facility services, general services (travel & event management, conference & food services), procurement, language services (translation, interpretation, publication production in languages other than English), and security services including business continuity.

Prior to joining the Fund Mr. Harnischfeger served as Executive Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer of T-Systems, the IT and business customer division of Deutsche Telekom Group. Previously he held various senior managerial positions in international corporations focusing on Finance, Operations, Business Development and IT. Among others he worked for A.T. Kearney in Germany and the U.S., for Siemens and the ABB Group.

Prior to his MBA from INSEAD (France) in 1991, Mr. Harnischfeger earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Psychology from German universities.
