As the globalization debate enters the 21st century, passions surrounding the issue-from whether it enhances wealth or consigns a good part of the world to grinding poverty-continue to frame public discussion. In this forthcoming Economic Forum discussion on his new book, "In Defense of Globalization" (Oxford University Press), Jagdish Bhagwati, University Professor, Columbia University, takes on the skeptics by arguing that when properly governed, globalization is in fact the most powerful force for social good in the world today.

The event will be moderated by Raghuram Rajan, Economic Counsellor and Director of the IMF's Research Department. Comment will be provided by Daniel Yergin, Chairman, Cambridge Energy Research Associates and author of "The Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy."
