This two-week course, presented by the IMF's Legal Department, provides a general introduction to the institutional and legal infrastructure that is necessary to support market-based financial transactions, a selection of which will be discussed during the course. It therefore covers basic institutional and functional aspects of central banking, payment systems, banking supervision, capital market transactions and bankruptcy. It also covers the financial transactions and operations of the IMF.
