The Joint Regional Training Center for Latin America in Brazil (BTC) was established in 2001 by the Government of Brazil and the IMF. Courses are offered generally in Spanish, with interpretation into Portuguese as needed. Officials from the Lusophone countries of Africa (Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe) may be invited to selected courses. Candidates are nominated by government agencies upon the request of the responsible IMF department.
