The IMF Institute organizes courses for officials from new European Union (EU) member countries and other economies in transition in Europe and Asia at the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) in Austria. Supported by two primary members (IMF and the Austrian Authorities), four contributing members (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the World Trade Organization (WTO)), and other bilateral donor organizations, the JVI was started in 1992. Selection Process: Courses are either by application or by invitation. For courses by invitation, candidates are nominated by government agencies upon the request of the responsible IMF department. Website: The current schedule and a full description of the courses listed on this site are also available at the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) website.
