Guidelines for IMF Supplier Registration and Eligibility
Last Updated: September 11, 2009Who may apply for Supplier Registration at the IMF?
For this purpose, a Supplier is defined as an organization that has been incorporated, or registered as a company (sole proprietorship, partnership, limited partnership, corporation) that has been established to offer goods and/or services for profit. Organizations registered as 'not for profit' (e.g. universities, United Nations agencies, other government agencies) are also considered a business.
How do businesses become eligible to register as a potential IMF Supplier?
All potential Suppliers to the IMF must complete an IMF Supplier Registration Form (PDF version or Online version) (revised 8/2002), and provide the required supportive documentation referred to on the form. Potential Suppliers must meet the following criteria:
The business enterprise must be currently incorporated, or registered as a company (sole proprietorship, partnership, limited partnership, corporation) and be able to demonstrate that it has been and is offering goods an/or services under the business name for a period of not less than three years.
Potential Suppliers should have operated with a positive operations income for the periods noted on the Supplier Registration Form (PDF version or Online version) and must provide Annual Reports and/or audited financial statements for that period referred to on the Registration Form.
Financial ratios (e.g. Return on Investment) must be within an acceptable range within the relevant industry sector. The IMF generally uses those ratios published by Dunn and Bradstreet Financial Information Services, among others, as a guideline for these ratings.
Potential Suppliers must provide client references for work that has been performed within the last twelve months. (Note - References may be contacted by the Procurement Section)
Potential Suppliers must not have been or currently be barred from contracting with any United Nations, World Bank, Government or international agency.
Potential Suppliers must have more than one business client. Any revenue obtained from IMF contracts may not exceed more than 25% of the potential Supplier's total annual revenue from all sources.
What does it mean to be a Registered Supplier?
A Registered Supplier may have the opportunity to bid on IMF institutional requirements within the commodity/services area for which they have registered. Suppliers will be given three consecutive opportunities to bid on goods or services. If suppliers fail to respond to all three opportunities, their name may be removed from the IMF's Master Supplier List at that time.
Registered suppliers will be expected to maintain a current status of their registration and must advise the IMF of any significant business changes as they occur.
Registered Suppliers may be requested to submit additional information to determine the Supplier's ability to participate in major procurements.
How do I obtain a copy of the Supplier Registration Form?
The Supplier Registration Form is available (PDF version or Online version), note that it may take up to 30 minutes to complete the on-line form, or you may receive a copy by contacting the Procurement Section at (202) 623-4895 or vial email, Procurement@imf.org.
