News Brief: IMF Managing Director Horst Köhler Meets Private Financial Sector Representatives

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Horst Köhler, today met representatives of the private financial sector in New York to discuss closer cooperation between the IMF and the private financial sector.

Against the background of private capital markets playing the major role in promoting investment and growth around the world, participants noted the importance of the IMF and private sector working closely together in crisis prevention and resolution.

The meeting, sponsored by the Institute of International Finance, was attended by representatives of 19 financial institutions, from the United States, Europe and Asia.
