IMF Executive Board Holds Informal Meeting to Discuss Next Steps in Consideration of Candidates for the Post of Managing Director of the IMF

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) met informally this morning to discuss the next steps in the Board's consideration of the candidates for the post of Managing Director of the IMF.

Five nominations were made for the position of Managing Director. Three of the individuals have subsequently withdrawn. Thus, there are two candidates, Mohamed El-Erian and Rodrigo Rato.

The Board has invited the candidates to meet with Directors this week. The Board is expected to consider the candidacies next week.
