Press Release: IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato's Statement on the Death of Saudi Arabia's King Fahd

Mr. Rodrigo de Rato, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), issued the following statement today on the death of His Highness King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud:

"I was greatly saddened to hear of the recent passing of His Highness King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud. King Fahd was a man of eminent leadership and moderation who made great efforts to promote international and regional cooperation, contributing greatly to regional economic and political integration as well as international oil market stability. The legacy of the macroeconomic stability in Saudi Arabia under his leadership and his relentless efforts to improve the well-being of the people provide a firm foundation for the continued development of the Saudi economy.

On behalf of the Executive Board and my colleagues at the IMF, I would like to express our deeply felt condolences and thoughts to the people of Saudi Arabia."
