Press Release: IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato to Travel to China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Belgium during October 14-20

Mr. Rodrigo de Rato, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will travel to China (October 14-16), Pakistan (October 17-18), Saudi Arabia (October 18-19), Belgium (October 19-20).

In China, Mr. de Rato to attend the meeting of G-20 Finance Ministers, which is being held outside Beijing. He will also meet the Chinese authorities.

In Pakistan, he will meet the authorities. This long-planned visit to Islamabad will now also allow the Managing Director to discuss the impact of the weekend's devastating earthquake and how the IMF can assist Pakistan with appropriate support.

In Saudi Arabia, he will attend the Gulf Cooperation Council Ministerial and Governors Meeting in Jeddah.

In Belgium, the Managing Director will participate in a meeting of the Capital Markets Consultative Group (CMCG) in Brussels. The CMCG was established in July 2000 by the IMF's Managing Director to provide a forum for informal dialogue between participants in international capital markets and the IMF, represented by its management and members of its senior staff. He is also scheduled to meet with the chairs and members of the Committees on Economic and Monetary Affairs, on International Trade, and on Development of the European Parliament.
