IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato's Statement on the Death of Kuwait's Emir Sheikh JaberPress Release No. 06/10

Mr. Rodrigo de Rato, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), issued the following statement today on the death of His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State Of Kuwait:
"I was greatly saddened to hear of the passing of His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State Of Kuwait. Sheikh Jaber was a leader who made great efforts to promote international and regional cooperation, contributing greatly to international oil market stability and leading his country to greater prosperity and stability. His legacy of sound economic management, and his efforts to promote democratic reforms and improve the well-being of the Kuwaiti people provide a firm foundation for the country's continued development.
"On behalf of the Executive Board and my colleagues at the IMF, I would like to express our deeply felt condolences and thoughts to the people of Kuwait."
