Statement by IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn on Chile

Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), issued the following statement today in the wake of a massive earthquake in Chile:

“On behalf of the IMF and its staff, let me extend my sincerest and deepest condolences to the people of Chile in the wake of today’s terrible earthquake. We stand ready to help the government in any way we can at this difficult time. Chile’s strong economic fundamentals, the result of many years of sound policies, will serve the country well as it responds to the tragedy.”
