Workshop

Macroeconomic Policy and Income Inequality

Workshop

Washington, D.C., September 18-19, 2014

A two-day workshop co-sponsored by DFID and the IMF on “Macroeconomic Policy and Income Inequality” was held in September 2014 at the IMF headquarters. It brought together academics and policy makers from top institutions around the world. Attendees discussed a wide range of issues and their impacts on inequality including financial deepening, commodity prices, trust and networks in insurance markets, transaction costs, structural transformation, and microfinance, among others. The papers were largely in the tradition of using macroeconomic models linked to micro data to examine distributional questions.
