Are you Eligible?

All you need is an idea and a camera for a chance to win an Ultra HD Camera and be heard by IMF Experts! Make sure you complete the 7 steps for eligibility. In addition, please read the terms and conditions for detailed information on the contest, and don’t forget to familiarize yourself with the contest timeline.

Am I eligible to enter the IMF video contest?

Any one from Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan living in their countries or abroad, and age 18-26* is eligible to enter the contest.

What should my video be about?

If you have a great story to tell or idea to share, we want to hear it! Contestants should create a video explaining what the keys to economic progress in their countries are:
  • The successful launch of a business, the invention of an innovative product, or how your idea will generate new jobs to boost the economy
  • Freer markets, better opportunities for women, less corruption?
  • And More, let it be YOUR idea.

Focus on the contest's subject, help your country by making a difference in a short video for the whole world to watch and for IMF experts to advises you on some economic challenges.

Are there any restrictions on video content?

We strongly encourage you to use your own original material to create your video — this includes music, photography, graphics, and other audiovisuals. If you use any material of a third party you must obtain all appropriate legal permissions to use such materials in your video and to license these rights. Your video cannot be longer than three minutes and must comply with the video formatting instructions on Video Requirements. Your video must also comply with the content criteria outlined in the terms and conditions. Can I include other people in my video?

You may enter this contest individually or in a team. You may feature yourself and your team members in your video. If you choose to feature any other persons in your video you will be required to obtain appropriate legal permissions from these individuals as outlined in the terms and conditions.

What is the deadline to enter?

Submissions must be received by September 30, 2010

What if I don’t have a YouTube account?

You’ll need to sign up for a free account. It’s a quick process that should take only a minute or two.

What are the necessary steps in order to compete?

What kind of equipment do I need?

You must be able to produce a video as specified by YouTube’s requirements, which can found at: http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=132460&topic=16612&hl=en-US

How will my video be judged?

  1. YouTube Community Votes, This is your chance to MARKET YOUR VIDEO! the voters will be asked to view, and view repeatedly, the video(s) they feel tell the most innovative, creative and compelling story. The top 50 videos with the most page views will proceed to the next round of judging.
  2. The TOP-SCORING videos will be judged by IMF Experts who will select the WINNERS. If your video makes it into the top FINALISTS, you will be required to undergo a background check as well as submit other legal documentation as outlined in the Terms and Conditions.

Do I have to be a professional film maker?

No. And you don’t need to use fancy equipment, either. Any digital video camera will do, be it low-end or professional quality.

Does my video need to be in English?

No. In fact, you can use English, Arabic or French. However, if your video uses non-English spoken or written words, you may submit English subtitles (optional).
