On June 7, 2004, the moderator of the EDG posted a paper prepared by the Loan Valuation Working Group in the IMF Statistics Department. That document discusses four options on how to solve the absence of information on nonperforming loans in the 1993 SNA. The present paper argues in favor of Option 3. The concluding section explains why Option 2, which seems to gather the preference of some participants in the discussion, is not sufficient.
