### Purpose and scope
- The IMF Data Privacy Appeals Committee is an independent, interdepartmental body comprised of management-level staff and operates separately from the Data Privacy Office.
- Individuals may submit an appeal to the IMF Data Privacy Appeals Committee if they are not satisfied with the IMF Data Privacy Office’s decision regarding their complaint.

### Appeal process and timing
- The appeal process comprises three phases:

  Phase 1: Submit appeal form to the IMF Data Privacy Appeals Committee
  - Provide appellant details and, if applicable, authorized representative details.

  Phase 2: Additional information requests
  - The IMF Data Privacy Appeals Committee may request supporting documents to verify identity or authority of the authorized representative.
  - The IMF Data Privacy Appeals Committee may request clarification if the appeal is unclear or unspecific.
  - Appellants should promptly provide requested additional information.

  Phase 3: Processing of appeal and response
  - The IMF Data Privacy Appeals Committee will acknowledge receipt of the appeal and will respond in writing and in English to the appellant or authorized representative.
  - The Data Privacy Appeals Committee will review and issue a decision on the appeal within 90 calendar days.
  - The written decision will be sent by the same method used to make the submission to the Data Privacy Appeals Committee.
  - The IMF Data Privacy Appeals Committee may refuse appeals as outlined in the Privacy Notice, stating the reasons.

- Time considerations for submitting an appeal:
  - Submit the appeal within 30 calendar days of:
    - Receiving the decision of the IMF Data Privacy Office regarding your complaint, OR
    - If no decision was issued by the IMF Data Privacy Office within the required timeframe (i.e., within 30 calendar days unless they notified you that they need an additional 30 days due to the complexity of your complaint or overall number of submissions that they are dealing with).
