### Overview
- Hosted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in cooperation with JICA.
- The IMF Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific held the 17th Macroeconomist Training Program as a three-day residential workshop.

### Lecturer
- Lecturer: Shogo Ishii (PhD), IMF and JICA Consultant.
- Dr. Ishii previously served as Director of the IMF Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and has held senior IMF positions including mission chief for Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam, and Senior Resident Representative in Thailand.

- Teach how the IMF analyzes macroeconomic issues using tools such as Financial Programming.
- Present real country case studies of IMF surveillance and program activities.
- Provide participants an opportunity to undertake group country analysis and present policy recommendations using introduced tools.
- Certificate: A Certificate of Participation will be granted to participants who complete this workshop.

- Additional eligibility: Students pursuing a master’s degree may also apply.
- Focus: Those interested in working for international organizations and developing expertise in macroeconomics, international finance, development economics, and related fields.

  - The Role of the IMF.
  - Macroeconomic Framework and Linkages.
  - Financial Programming: Baseline Scenario and assessing baseline scenarios to identify macroeconomic imbalances and risks.
  - Macroeconomic Policies: objectives, anticipated impacts, and constraints.
  - IMF-Supported Adjustment Program: role and process, illustrated by a case study of Ghana.
  - Case Study: Egypt — review of recent economic developments and the 46-month Extended Fund Facility program approved in January 2023, which aims at preserving macroeconomic stability and paving the way for sustainable private-sector-led growth.
- Tools: Financial Programming and macroeconomic accounting linkages; group assignments include macroeconomic data sets for Lao PDR and Sri Lanka.
