### Qualifications and pre-requisites
- Expected background:
  - Advanced degree in economics or equivalent experience.
  - Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel.
  - Comfortable using quantitative software such as EViews or Matlab (specific knowledge not required).
- Strong recommendation:
  - Completion of the online Financial Programming and Policies, Part 1: Macroeconomic Accounts and Analysis (FPP.1 x) along with the Public Debt Dynamic Tool (DDTx).
- Pre-requisite delivery format and schedule:
  - Part 1 (virtual): September 21 to October 2, 2026 (two weeks).
    - Self-study of prescribed material requiring about 2-3 hours of daily work at the participant’s own pace.
    - Live virtual meetings one hour long every other day to address questions.
  - Part 2 (in person): October 26 to 30, 2026 in Vienna, Austria.

### Course description and core content
- Purpose:
  - Equip participants with macroeconomic Excel-based frameworks, tools, and models for integrating climate considerations in policy formulation.
  - Prepare participants to consider climate-related economic risks and vulnerabilities.
- Key thematic areas:
  - Working with climate data to analyze macroeconomic impact of climate change issues.
  - Accounting for climate shocks in macroeconomic frameworks.
  - Identifying climate-related risks and vulnerabilities.
  - Evaluating public debt dynamics following natural disasters and the benefits of investing in resilient infrastructure.

### Learning objectives and expected competencies
- Upon completion, participants should be able to:
  - Work with climate data to help analyze the macroeconomic impact of climate change issues.
