  - After a strong 2025 with growth at 4.5%, Sub-Saharan Africa entered 2026 reaping the benefits of hard-won stabilization gains.
  - The war in the Middle East has clouded the outlook.
  - Regional growth is expected to decline by 0.2 percentage points to 4.3 percent in 2026.

### Fraud Alert
- The Office warns that several variants of financial scam letters purporting to be sanctioned by the IMF or authored by high ranking IMF officials are currently in circulation.
  - Scam letters may appear on official letterhead containing the IMF logo.
  - Scams instruct potential victims to contact the IMF for issuance of a “Certificate of International Capital Transfer” or other approvals to receive large sums.
  - Contact e-mail information provided by scammers is always BOGUS; victims are then requested to send personal banking details which scammers utilize for fraudulent activities.
