### Mandate and activities
- The Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (OAP) is one of the IMF's major regional offices and serves as the Fund’s hub in the region under the Asia and Pacific Department.
- OAP provides value to members in the region through:
  - regional surveillance,
  - capacity development,
  - outreach activities.

- OAP was established in Tokyo in 1997 with the support of the Japanese government.

### Programs and initiatives
- OAP organizes and supports:
  - Asia-Pacific Regional Seminar Series
  - High-level Economic Policy Conferences
  - Peer-to-Peer Learning
  - Macroeconomist Training Program
  - Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA)

### Outreach, communication, and engagement
- OAP maintains channels for news and engagement, including:
  - News (archive) labeled as News on OAP Website
  - Social media and newsletters including IMF Newsletter ー Tokyo, IMF Tokyo, IMF Asia Pacific Office, and links via IMF Social Hub

### Director's priorities and vision
- The Director emphasizes a core commitment to deliver meaningful regional impact by:
  - strengthening economic policy,
  - fostering collaboration,
  - building capacity throughout Asia and the Pacific.
- Specific strategic priorities under the Director’s vision include:
  - deepening regional surveillance capacity,
  - strengthening capacity development efforts through partnerships with the IMF’s other regional capacity development centers and relevant departments, regional institutions, governments, and stakeholders,
  - empowering future leaders via initiatives such as JISPA,
  - facilitating dialogue, sharing expertise, and supporting institutional growth in the region.

- The Director expresses intent for OAP to act as a catalyst for regional collaboration, to build bridges, drive creative thinking, and create lasting value for Asia and the Pacific.
