### Public advisory: fraudulent scam letters
- Warning:
  - Several variants of financial scam letters purporting to be sanctioned by the IMF or authored by high ranking IMF officials are in circulation.
  - Scam letters may appear on official letterhead containing the IMF logo and instruct recipients to contact the IMF for issuance of a “Certificate of International Capital Transfer” or other approvals to receive large sums of monies as beneficiaries.
  - Contact e-mail information in these letters is always bogus; victims are requested to send personal banking details which scammers then use for fraudulent activities.
- For more information see Fraudulent Scam Emails Using the Name of the IMF.

### African Departmental Papers
