### IMF Engagement and Article IV Consultations
- On July 31, 2024, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) concluded the 2024 Article IV consultation with Zimbabwe.
- The last Article IV Executive Board Consultation was on August 27, 2025.
- The authorities need more time to consider the publication of the Article IV staff report and the related press release.
- Under Article IV of its Articles of Agreement, the IMF is mandated to exercise surveillance over the economic, financial and exchange rate policies of its members to ensure the effective operation of the international monetary system.
- IMF surveillance through Article IV consultations involves:
  - A comprehensive analysis of the general economic situation and policy strategy of the member country.
  - IMF economists visiting the member country, usually once a year, to collect and analyze data and hold discussions with government and central bank officials.
  - Submission of a staff report to the IMF’s Executive Board for discussion, after which the Board’s views are summarized and transmitted to the country’s authorities.
