- Following a raft of net zero target announcements in 2020 and 2021, scrutiny is mounting about the plans to get there.
- The International Energy Agency (IEA) released its “Net Zero by 2050” report to outline a detailed road map to achieve a net zero energy system in three decades.
- The study outlines the policies, technologies, and behavioral changes needed to decarbonize the energy sector, which the report identifies as holding the key to decarbonizing the global economy.

- Current global pledges will not get the world to net zero in time to limit the temperature rise to 1.5°C.
