Jaebin Ahn

JaeBin Ahn is a Senior Economist in the Western Hemisphere Department of the IMF, where he currently covers the U.S. and Grenada desks. Prior to this position, he was in the Research department (Multilateral Surveillance Division; Open-Economy Macroeconomics Division; Systemic Issues Division) as well as in Asia and Pacific department covering Indonesia and Malaysia. From 2018 to 2022, he served as an Associate/Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University. Before joining the IMF’s Economist Program in 2011, he was a dissertation intern at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. His area of research includes international trade and finance, with particular interests in deriving macroeconomic implications from micro-level theory and evidence. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University and his M.A. in Economics and B.S. in Material Science from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.
