Over the last 18 months, we have been grappling with loss and hardship. In the words of the young American poet Amanda Gorman: “When day comes, we ask ourselves, where can we find light in this never-ending shade?” The good news is “light” is coming. IMF Managing Director Opening Remarks for the United States 2021 Article IV Consultation

July 1 , 2021
Welcome to the press conference on our conclusions from this year’s U.S. Article IV consultation. We had a very useful discussion earlier today with Chair Powell and Secretary Yellen about the current state of the economy and the challenges ahead as the U.S. emerges from the shadow of the pandemic. I would like to thank them and staff of the Federal Reserve, the Treasury, and other agencies for their time and insights over the past few weeks.  click for more
