Target Audience

Legal drafters, policy makers, financial sector supervisors, and regulators of designated nonfinancial businesses and professions; financial intelligence unit officials; criminal justice officials; and other officials who are anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) stakeholders preparing for the mutual evaluation of their respective countries.

Qualifications

Participants are expected to have at least two years of experience with AML/CFT issues. Attendance is by invitation only. Prerequisites are specified in the nomination request letters.

Course Description

This course, presented by the IMF Legal Department, is designed to increase the familiarity of participants with the mutual evaluation process and timelines. It will cover the engagement with the assessor body before and after the onsite visit, including the face-to-face meeting and plenary related discussions. Presentations will also include an overview of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standard and how to demonstrate the Effectiveness of AML/CFT Systems.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand and address milestones and challenges related to a mutual evaluation process.
  • Support efforts of their respective countries to prepare for and undergo a successful mutual evaluation.
