Jochen Schmittmann, Regional Resident Representative for the IMF Resident Offices in Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR: Jochen M. Schmittmann is the Regional Resident Representative for the IMF Resident Offices in Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR. Before that, he was the Deputy Head of the IMF’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Tokyo, Desk Economist on the Japan team, and Mission Chief for the Federated States of Micronesia. He previously was the IMF’s Resident Representative in Singapore, covering Singapore, Malaysia, and Asian financial markets. Before coming to Singapore, Jochen worked in the IMF’s Asia and Pacific, Western Hemisphere, Finance, and Monetary and Capital Markets departments. He also worked as part of the team managing the IMF’s investments. Jochen has published on a wide range of topics in finance and macroeconomics, including behavioral finance, climate finance, currency hedging, labor markets, and the economic impact of demographic change in Asia. Jochen holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from Goethe University Frankfurt.
Nga Ha Kim, Senior Economist: Nga was seconded to the IMF Hanoi Office from the State Bank of Vietnam in 1997 and became a staff member in 2000. Nga is in charge of monetary and external sectors.. She also administers the IMF training programs for the office. She holds degrees from Saitama University, Japan (M.A., Public Policy) and National Economics University, Hanoi (B.A., Economics).
Van Anh Nguyen, Economist, Economist: Van Anh joined the IMF Hanoi Office in 1997, and is in charge of fiscal and real sectors, and data management and analysis. She holds degrees from the National Economics University, Hanoi (MBA) and from the University of Agriculture, Hanoi (Bsc).
Hai Hoang, Office Manager: Hai joined the IMF Hanoi Office in 2004. Besides administering the office, she handles operations and the budget. She holds a B.A. from the Foreign Language University, Hanoi. She has a good working knowledge of German.
Le My Nguyen, Office Assistant: Le has worked for the IMF Hanoi Office since 2007. She provides assistance in office operation, data management and analysis.
Quang Du, Office Driver: Dai has driving experience for more than 30 years. He worked for several Japanese firms before joining the IMF in 2004. He can speak English and Russian.
