Press Release: IMF Managing Director to Visit Four African Countries and Address the African Union Heads of State Meeting in Maputo

Horst Köhler, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will travel to Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, and Mozambique early this month at the invitation of these countries. Mr. Köhler will also attend the African Union Heads of State meeting in Maputo, Mozambique on July 10-11.

The purpose of the visit, which is Mr. Köhler's fourth to sub-Saharan Africa since assuming office as Managing Director of the IMF on May 1, 2000, is to discuss issues confronting these countries and the region and to reinforce the IMF's continued engagement with the region.
