Press Release: IMF Deputy Managing Director Min Zhu to Visit Senegal In November

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Deputy Managing Director Min Zhu will visit Senegal from November 5–6, 2012. In Dakar, Mr. Zhu will lead the IMF delegation to a symposium on monetary integration and changes in the international financial system, on the occasion of the BCEAO’s 50th anniversary on November 5. He will also hold discussions with the Senegalese authorities on November 6 focusing on the medium-term economic outlook for the country and the challenges ahead.

“I am very much looking forward to my first visit to Senegal as Deputy Managing Director of the IMF. Senegal has made significant progress over the last few years” Mr. Zhu said ahead of his visit. “Looking at the medium term, the challenge will be the pursuit of policies to achieve strong, sustainable, and inclusive growth, and to reduce poverty in an uncertain global economic environment”.

Mr. Zhu will meet President Sall, Prime Minister Mbaye, and several other officials. He will also take part in a round-table discussion on “What growth model and prospects for Senegal in a challenging international environment”, with participation from the private sector, academia, and civil society organizations.
