Purpose and scope
- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) requires visitors to IMF buildings to uphold the IMF’s core values of integrity, honesty, inclusion, respect, excellence, and impartiality.
- The Visitor Code of Conduct applies to all IMF buildings.
- Visitors who do not comply with this Code of Conduct may be asked to leave and could be restricted from accessing IMF premises in the future.
Orderly conduct
- Visitors will always adhere to orderly conduct and instructions on event participation and access, ensuring a respectful and professional environment for the benefit of all participants and building occupants.
- Prohibited actions include any form of verbal or non-verbal disruptions to the professional environment.
- The display or carrying of placards, signs, spray cans, banners, or other protest material is prohibited.
Respect
- Individuals: All visitors will treat individuals with respect regardless of differing opinions.
- Personal attacks, verbal abuse of any form, or harassment1 will not be tolerated.
- Property: All visitors will treat property with respect.
- Damage to property is prohibited and punishable by law.
- Security and Emergency Services Personnel: All visitors will comply with instructions from security and emergency services personnel, allowing them to carry out their duties without hindrance.
Compliance with the law
- All visitors will adhere to local, state and Federal laws.
- Illegal actions are not permitted.
- Visitors will not carry firearms, other dangerous or deadly weapons, or explosives either openly or concealed on the IMF’s premises.

- Participants are encouraged to use established channels for communicating feedback and to engage in dialogue by contacting:

- If you cannot comply with this Code of Conduct, refrain from visiting the IMF’s buildings or inform either your host or a Security Officer if you are reading while on the IMF’s premises.
Definition of harassment
- Under the Fund’s Harassment Policy [1], harassment is behavior, verbal or physical, that unreasonably interferes with work or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.
- The Fund’s definition of harassment also includes sexual harassment which is defined as any behavior of a sexual nature that is unwelcome, offensive, or that creates a hostile or intimidating work environment.
