Mission visit and timeline

• Mission led by Mr. Alvaro Piris visited Addis Ababa from September 25 to October 3, 2023.

Staff findings

• The IMF team noted important steps taken to bring down inflation and stabilize the economy, including significant fiscal and monetary tightening.
• These measures have put in place a critical foundation for success of the Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda, which aims to fulfill Ethiopia’s considerable economic potential.

Progress on program discussions and next steps

• The mission made good progress in discussing how the IMF could support the authorities’ economic program.
