The Fund Internship Program (FIP) is more than an academic internship—you'll contribute to work that supports the IMF's 191 member countries. You'll gain hands-on experience, strengthen your research skills, and build a professional network in an international environment.
You’ll work closely with experienced IMF staff and contribute to ongoing research or operational work. Many interns present their findings to IMF staff, and some see their work published.

The work: from research questions to real-world perspective.
As a Fund intern, you’ll contribute to the IMF’s work through a focused research project. You’ll work closely with a supervisor and may present your findings to IMF staff at the end of your internship.
Economics internship
Work on topics such as inflation dynamics, financial stability, inequality, and digital transformation.
Legal internship
Support research on financial regulation, legal frameworks, and cross-country comparisons.
Specialized internship
Support project work in areas of cybersecurity, AI, audio-visual services, language services, and more.
