Marwa Ibrahim is an economist in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She was previously an economist in the African Department, where she led analytical work on social protection in Fund-supported programs. Before joining the Fund, Marwa worked in the Transfer Project at the Carolina Population Center, conducting impact evaluations of government cash transfer programs in Malawi and Ghana. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.A. in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University. Her research interests include labor economics, development economics, and migration.
