Qualifications
Participants are expected to have a degree in economics, finance, statistics, or equivalent work experience. Participants' current job or responsibilities at work should be linked to the topic of the workshop.
Course Description
The workshop will address key issues related to data collection and usage of the Financial Access Survey (FAS), the IMF's annual supply-side database on financial inclusion. It will cover the FAS data collection methodology in detail and highlight its importance for policymaking and monitoring financial access and usage. The workshop will also present the results of the FAS pilot exercises and discuss potential revisions to the FAS questionnaire based on these findings.Peer learning will be a central component of the workshop, providing participants with opportunities to engage in discussions, deliver presentations, and share their experiences with supply-side financial inclusion data collection and usage,
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:- Understand the nature and content of the FAS data.- Grasp the detailed FAS methodology, including gender-disaggregated data and digital financial services information.- Enhance FAS data collection and reporting through peer learning.- Become familiar with the use of FAS data, including for tracking financial inclusion trends, benchmarking and policymaking.
