Gazi Shbaikat, Resident Representative: Gazi Shbaikat, a national of Jordan, is an economist with over two decades of experience in monetary policy, financial markets, labor markets, and economic policy design, including work in oil-exporting, fragile, and low-income countries. Currently, he serves as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative for Tajikistan. Throughout his career at the IMF, he has held various leadership roles, such as Regional Resident Representative for Iraq and Yemen, Lead Desk Economist for the Middle East and Central Asia, and Senior Advisor to the Executive Director. Before joining the IMF, Mr. Shbaikat held senior positions in the Government of Jordan, including Deputy Minister and Minister of Labor, Director General of the National Statistics Office, and Economist at the Central Bank of Jordan. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Tennessee, specializing in monetary policy and econometrics.
