Introduction

• Flight tickets received from abroad to an Israeli resident as gift are included under the secondary income.

Scope, Methodology, Compilation Practices, and Data Sources

• The estimation is based on three components which multiplied by each other:
  • Percent of gifts- estimation from administrative data.
  • Number of residents gets out of the border by air. The source of information is the Population and immigration authority (Border crossings),
  • Expenditures abroad of residents (travel- import services). The source of information is the Household Expenditure Survey.
• The estimation is calculated every quarter in Balance of Payments sector.
• The data included in the national accounts under other transfers from abroad.

Current Challenges and Conclusions

• In the future we will want to investigate the scope of the phenomenon.
