Nelson Sobrinho is a Deputy Division Chief in the IMF’s Finance Department. He also worked in the IMF’s African Department and in the Strategy, Policy, and Review Department. He has covered developing country issues for many years and has conducted research on relevant topics in this area including governance, debt sustainability, and financial development. Before joining the IMF, he was a senior economist at the Central Bank of Brazil. He holds a PhD degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
